Job Summary:

  • The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire lifecycle of projects that relate with crop and livestock farming.
  • This includes planning, executing, monitoring, and closing out projects while ensuring that goals are met on time, within budget, and with high quality.
  • The role requires strong knowledge in agricultural operations, manufacturing, supply chain, and project management. The Project Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to optimize processes, manage resources, and drive profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Execution:

  • Develop comprehensive project plans that include timelines, resource allocation, and key milestones.
  • Oversee the execution of daily farming and factory operations, ensuring each phase progresses as planned and meets performance targets.
  • Align project goals with business strategies to ensure profitability, sustainability, and market competitiveness.
    Resource and Budget Management:
  • Allocate resources (financial, human, and material) efficiently across all operations to meet the project goals and budgets.
  • Track project costs, control expenditure, and report on budget adherence, identifying any variances and corrective measures.
  • Ensure procurement processes are optimized and that vendor relationships (for machinery, inputs, etc.) are effectively managed.

Team Leadership and Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead and manage teams across various operations, providing direction, mentorship, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across all departments.
  • Liaise with government agencies, environmental bodies, suppliers, and contractors to ensure the smooth operation of all projects.
  • Communicate regularly with senior management on project progress, risks, and opportunities.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify risks associated with farming operations (e.g., climate, disease) and factory processes (e.g., equipment failure, supply chain disruptions) and create mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations in agriculture, food safety, environmental standards, and production processes.
  • Oversee safety protocols in the factory and on the farms to minimize accidents and ensure regulatory compliance.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs across all operations to ensure output meets market standards.
  • Work closely with the production teams to enhance product quality, from farm produce to finished goods.
  • Set quality benchmarks and continuously improve production techniques to optimize yield and quality.

Reporting and Performance Monitoring:

  • Develop and maintain KPIs to track the performance of all projects, providing regular updates to the management team.
  • Analyze project data and prepare detailed reports on productivity, quality, costs, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Utilize data to make informed decisions on improving operations, reducing downtime, and increasing profitability.

Key Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Project Management Certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project management within agribusiness or manufacturing sectors.
  • Proven experience in managing agricultural operations, including crop and livestock farming.
  • Experience in production management within ethanol and food processing industries is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage diverse teams and operations.
  • Deep understanding of agricultural production, supply chain management, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc.) and ERP systems.
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data to make informed business decisions.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and best practices in farming, food safety, and production.

Holidays: Saturday (half), Sunday and Public Holidays
